Should I use an agent to book a cruise or book on-line ?

Booking an airline ticket on line is very common these days.  Airline tickets have become a commodity, the carrier really does not make a difference if you are flying from Kansas City to Miami.  You are pretty much flying in the same uncomfortable metal tube at 30,000 feet going 500 MPH.

Booking a cruise on-line might seem like a commodity as well, but there are a wide array of options to be considered that you do not have to worry about when booking an airline ticket. There are over 200 ships from more than a dozen cruise lines that are marketing for your business, each with their own unique style and personality.

  • Do you want Alaska, Caribbean, Mediterranean, Australia, or even Asia ?
  • Would you prefer a large ship or an intimate yacht?
  • Is your trip with family or an intimate getaway for two?
  • Would you like 5 star gourmet food or more of the contemporary variety ?
  • Do you like formal sit-down dinners or a more casual environment?
  • What kind of cabin do you need: balcony, inside, outside, suite, mid-ship, studio, aft, or even an inside over looking a courtyard?
  • Do you want a lot of activities or a more relaxed environment?

As you can see there are a lot of variables in deciding which cruise line and ship best fits your needs and vacationing style.  Over 80% of cruises are booked with agents as they can find you the perfect fit.
