World's Best Beaches

Grace Bay, Turks and Caicos

According to many, Grace Bay is "the most beautiful beach in the world," featuring crystal-clear waters and soft white sand. You can snorkel at the nearby barrier reef, or float calmly in the ocean thanks to minimal waves. The island has sunny skies roughly 319 days a year, giving you the perfect antidote to winter weather.

Whitehaven Beach, Australia

Considered by many to be Australia’s most beautiful beach, four mile-long Whitehaven Beach off the coast of Queensland is appropriately named. It has the purest sand in the world—98 percent pure silica, so white it looks like baby powder—beautifully juxtaposed against azure waters. Active travelers will appreciate the beach's many coves and inlets, perfect for exploration, and snorkeling at the south end.

Anse Lazio, Seychelles

Take a trip to Praslin Island, Seychelles and relax on Anse Lazio beach—known for golden sand and coconut palms. Average ocean temperature is around 80 degrees Fahrenheit, making the perfect environment for swimming and snorkeling.

Pink Sands Beach, Bahamas

The cotton candy-colored shores of Pink Sands Beach look like a fairytale (and make for the perfect Instagram). This Bahamian escape stretches for five kilometers (roughly 3 miles) along Harbor Island, and, thanks to a nearby coral reef, has very calm waters. Head there during sunset to see a beautiful contrast of colors.

Navagio Beach, Greece

Also known as Shipwreck Beach, Navagio in the Ionian Islands is easily the most beautiful stretch of sand in Greece. Shrouded by towering limestone cliffs, the beach is so isolated that it can only be accessed by boat. Unwind on the powdery shores, or make your way up to the cliffs for some truly spectacular views (don't worry, there's a viewing platform.)

Baia Dos Porcos, Brazil

Also known as the "Bay of Pigs," Baia Dos Porcos is a traveler's dream. It's isolated and water sports are forbidden, so if you crave relaxation, this is the place to go. Blue waters contrast beautifully with rock formations, and there's plenty of wildlife to explore: You might even see turtles ambling around the shore.

Playa Paraiso, Mexico

The white sands and blue waters of Playa Paraiso make for an ideal tropical getaway. You can snorkel and scuba dive at the offshore coral reef, or lie out to get that vacation tan—the region is sunny 290 days out of the year.

Hyams Beach, Australia

Located on Jervis Bay in New South Wales, Hyams Beach combines relaxation with adventure. Unwind on the luxuriously soft white sand, or take a hike in nearby Jervis Bay National Park, characterized by rock formations and unforgettable views.

Hidden Beach, Mexico

West of Puerto Vallarta, Hidden Beach (also known as Playa del Amor) looks like a fantasy landscape. The beach is surrounded by a cave with a gaping hole in the roof—a natural skylight that opens the shores up for swimming, sunbathing, and Insta-worthy pictures.

Trunk Bay, St. John

The secluded Trunk Bay beach is "perfect and exclusive," according Traveler readers. The sea is crystal clear and great for snorkeling, and the sand is powder-white. Plus, if you get tired of the sun, there are hiking trails that lead into adjacent green hills, where you'll find ruins of historic sugarcane plantations.
