Stateroom Roulette

'I just sleep there' or 'I want the cheapest stateroom' is a very common request that we hear.  And sometimes that might be the right choice.  Prior to our business Donna and I wanted to take a cheap cruise to get away.  An inside cabin 'guarantee' was the cheapest available so that is what we went with (boy do I wish we we utilized a specialist before that trip).  A 'guarantee' means that your are guaranteed a stateroom in the category you pay for or higher.   You are not assigned a stateroom until right before your sailing date.  'You might get upgraded' was something we heard often with a 'guaranteed' cabin.

Well ..... Donna was newly pregnant and we were assigned a cabin right below the casino.  DING DING DING DING .... Loud announcements at 2AM  .... yelling and screaming all through the wee hours.   Needless to say we were not happy campers.  There was not much sleep happening and an unhappy pregnant wife does not make for a happy husband!

So a 'guarantee' might be the lowest price but might not be the best value for what you are looking for in your vacation. You might get a great cabin but you also might get the worst cabin that is left over from the guests who paid a bit more and selected their specific stateroom.   A specialist can help you sort though all the variables for finding a great stateroom.   Trust when we say a bad stateroom can ruin a trip you have been looking forward to for a long time!!  Do not be a 'victim' to the 'guarantee' - know what you are getting for the dollar!

Happy Cruising!!
